The community of Crowley Lake is the largest of Mono County’s unincorporated communities, with several extensive subdivisions and neighborhoods. The community is located on the shores of Crowley Lake at an elevation of 6,949 feet.

The most recent Census reported Crowley Lake’s population was 875 but the community has experienced strong growth in the past eight years, including the recent addition of a subdivision called Sierra Springs, nearly doubling the population since the Census.

Crowley Lake has the only general store between Mammoth Lakes and Toms Place. The community also has a church, a library and a community center.

The community sits above Crowley Lake reservoir, which is owned and operated by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

The big meadows below the community are owned by the LADWP and are extensively irrigated and grazed.

Hilton Creek runs through the community, along with several small ditches that carry water to some properties.

Crowley Lake has strong connections to Mammoth Lakes, with most residents employed in Mammoth and/or attending school in Mammoth.

The community is intensely developed in some areas with traditional single-family residence neighborhoods and in other regions of the community, equestrian and larger lots dominate.
